Checkers on the International Stage

Checkers, a popular strategic game, has gained recognition on the international stage. The World Draughts Federation (FMJD – Fédération Mondiale du Jeu de Dames) plays a crucial role in the global development of this discipline. The history of the world championship dates back to 1896, and since 1947, the FMJD has operated as an international organization.

FMJD – Driving Global Development

Currently, FMJD brings together an impressive number of 81 national federations representing all inhabited continents. As a member of prestigious organizations such as SportAccord, AIMS, WADA, and IMSA, FMJD collaborates with other international federations of mind sports, such as FIDE (chess), WBF (bridge), IGF (GO), and WXF (Chinese chess). This collaboration promotes checkers as an important and valued sport. Furthermore, as a member of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), FMJD actively combats doping in sports. Thanks to these efforts, checkers not only gain increasing recognition but are also promoted as a game where fair play and integrity are a priority on the international stage.
